Who We Are
Our Team
Our Founders
Born in Belgium in 1923, Mr. Réné Hainaut was born again at the age of ten at the Belgian Gospel Mission’s camp in Limauges. Growing up, he enjoyed many spiritual and physical blessings as a camper at various evangelical camps. His wife, Elizabeth Ross, born in Scotland, was also active in camp work for a number of years.
The Hainauts spent 18 years as missionaries in Belgian Congo, Africa (known today as the Democratic Republic of Congo, formerly Zaïre). While Mr. Hainaut was responsible for churches, buildings, programs, etc., Mrs. Hainaut took charge of some twenty bush schools. They left in 1968, following the Lord’s leading to the province of Quebec where Mr. Hainaut was mightily used of the Lord, and founded many churches in the lower Laurentian region. In 1981 he founded Camp des Iles.
While Mrs. Hainaut went to be with the Lord in April 2010 and Mr Hainaut also passed away in July of 2012, the enduring legacy they left is seen in campers as they continue to experience the excitement and spiritual growth offered each summer at Camp des Iles.
Our Mission Statement
REACH
"Go ye therefore into all creation"
Matthew 28:19
We strive to accomplish this mandate by reaching out to those who haven't heard about Jesus Christ's Good News.
PREACH
"Preach the gospel to every creature"
Mark 16:15
We seek to obey this command through a focused and purposeful communication of the Good News to those we have reached.
TEACH
"Teaching them to obey all things whatsoever I have commanded"
Matthew 28:20
We aim to fulfill this vision by providing tools and opportunities for spiritual growth to those who have responded positively to the preaching of the Good News.
